Transcatheter Embolization of Giant Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation with an Amplatzer Vascular Plug II

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a rare anomalous direct communication between the pulmonary artery and vein with a considerable risk of serious complications such as cerebral thromboembolism or abscess and pulmonary hemorrhage. Although the past, surgical resection such as lobectomy was mostly used to treat PAVM, the recent development of endovascular treatment has made it a prim...

Giant High-Flow Type Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation: Coil Embolization with Flow Control by Balloon Occlusion and an Anchored Detachable Coil

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are often treated by pushable fibered or non-fibered microcoils, using an anchor or scaffold technique or with an Amplatzer plug through a guiding sheath. When performing percutaneous transcatheter microcoil embolization, there is a risk of coil migration, particularly with high-flow type PAVMs. The authors report on a unique treatment in a patient ...

Three Huge Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations: Endovascular Embolization with the Amplatzer Vascular Plug Üç Dev Pulmoner Arteriovenöz Malformasyon: Amplatzer Vasküler Plug ile Endovasküler Embolizasyon

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations are abnormal direct communications between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins. Transcatheter embolotherapy is the preferred treatment method because of its less invasive nature. There are several methods for the treatment of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations, such as detachable occlusion balloon and coil embolization. The Amplatzer Vascular Plug is ...

Use of interlocking detachable coils in embolization of coronary arteriovenous fistulas.

Thirteen patients underwent transcatheter closure of coronary artery fistulas using interlocking detachable coils alone or combined with fibered coils. Complete occlusion was achieved in 92% of patients; although inadvertent embolization of coils occurred in 23% of patients, all these coils were easily retrieved using snares.

Giant idiopathic renal arteriovenous fistula managed by coils and amplatzer device: Case report and literature review

An idiopathic renal arteriovenous (AV) fistula is a rare malformation of the kidney that may present insidiously with heart failure or hematuria. The treatment may be challenging due to large fistula size that may limit endovascular management. The authors report a case of an 85-year-old Caucasian woman who presented with acute heart failure and was found to have a right renal AV fistula. Since...
